App and software development · Rheine, Germany
We build apps people open every day.
25Bugs is a development studio in Rheine, Germany. We design, build and ship mobile apps, web platforms and AI features – from the first sketch to the App Store listing. And not only for clients: our own apps are already there.
We usually reply within one working day.

Services
Four things we do properly
No catalogue of everything. We focus on what we build and ship ourselves, regularly.
iOS apps
Native apps for iPhone and iPad – including the frameworks others get stuck on: Screen Time, HealthKit, in-app purchases, subscriptions, push.
- Swift & SwiftUI
- App Store submission
- In-app purchases & subscriptions
Web platforms
Portals, dashboards and the backends underneath, built to hold up when ten users turn into ten thousand.
- Next.js & React
- APIs & data model
- Hosting & deployment
UI/UX design
Interfaces that explain themselves. We design and build under one roof, so nothing is lost in handover.
- Concept & flows
- Clickable prototype
- Design system
AI features
Language models where they make a real difference – and not where a dropdown would have done the job.
- Text understanding & generation
- Search & recommendations
- Automated workflows
How it works
From idea to release
Four steps. You always know what we are working on and what it costs.
01
Intro & scoping
A conversation to work out what the product must do – and what it deliberately must not do. You then get a written estimate covering scope, time and cost.
02
Concept & design
Flows, screens, design system. This phase ends with a clickable prototype you can walk through yourself, long before the first line of production code exists.
03
Development
We build in short cycles. Every cycle ends with a build you can install on your own device. Changes are normal here, not dramatic.
04
Launch & operations
Store submission including review support, handover of accounts, monitoring. After that: maintenance and further development for as long as you want it.
Our own products
We don't only build for others
Three of our own apps on the App Store. That is why we know the review process, billing and store policies from practice rather than from blog posts.
StepLock
Walk first, scroll later.
StepLock ties access to selected apps to the steps you have taken today. Miss your daily goal and the time-sinks stay locked. An idea that only works if the system integration is genuinely clean.
- Daily steps unlock apps
- Screen Time & HealthKit
- Optional in-app purchases
ActivityLock
Screen time, tied to movement.
ActivityLock extends the idea: usage limits are tied to activity goals tracked through HealthKit and enforced through Apple's Screen Time framework. All health data stays on the device.
- Activity goals instead of rigid limits
- Apple Screen Time API
- Data stays local
Facts App
Useless knowledge, endlessly scrollable.
Random, funny and completely useless facts in a vertical infinite scroll. 35 facts are free, the rest via a single purchase. Small, fast, and good proof that entertainment is a craft.
- Infinite feed
- 35 facts free
- One-time purchase, no subscription
Why 25Bugs
One point of contact. Nothing handed down a chain.
Large agencies build layers between you and the person writing the code. We don't.
You talk to developers
No account management in between. Whoever answers you also works on the product.
Transparent cost
A clear frame before we start. If the scope shifts, you hear it before it gets expensive, not after.
Real store experience
We have taken our own apps through App Review. Rejections, subscription rules, privacy declarations: all of it already survived.
Privacy from the start
Based in Germany, GDPR-compliant processing, data minimisation as the default rather than an afterthought.

Frequently asked
What clients want to know first
What does an app cost?
It depends on scope. A focused first version usually lands in the low five figures, a platform with accounts, backend and billing considerably above that. After the first conversation you get a written estimate – free and without obligation.
How long until launch?
A first releasable version typically takes two to four months. The deciding factor is rarely development speed; it is how sharply the scope is cut at the start.
Do I own the code?
Yes. On full payment, all rights to the code and design files transfer to you. Accounts and repositories are handed over in full on request.
Do you take over existing projects?
Yes, provided we can look at the current state first. We start those projects with a short code review so both sides know what they are getting into.
What happens after launch?
On request we handle maintenance, monitoring and further development. Equally, you can take the product over entirely – we document accordingly.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. We are based in Rheine and work across Germany. For kick-off and major milestones we are happy to come to you.
Tell us about your idea
One conversation, an honest assessment, no obligation. Even when the answer is: you don't need an app for this.
